I have started to make a limited edition with the birds, where the design was inspired by lace and drew on the birds directly. Pictures will follow.

In the mid time I just want to say that I will have a table at the Ripley Arts Centre Christmas fair in Bromley on Sunday 1st December from 11:00-16:00
Where: Ripley Arts Centre  24 Sundridge Avenue, Bromley BR1 2PX

There will be plenty of other handmade art and craft there, as well as cake and refreshment. Please come along, it is their first time at organising a Christmas fair and I believe will need all our support.

When I developed PLASTIC WORLD, I dressed the ceramic birds with plastic, I want to revisit the idea and presently am looking at lace.

Plastic world research

Next, I want to experiment with the glazes by highlighting the crazing in my glazes with ink.

Some of the many colours the MEMORY BIRDS come in.

Birds are used widely in art, represented in various materials and styles.

These ceramics birds are inspired by watching children at play.
I choose birds as a symbol of innocence and freedom ( that children experience).
My use of bold colours reinforce my own feelings of pure and sweet memories.

My birds are on my mantlepiece, each time I lay eyes on them, I recall those past memories…

Plastic world

The Birds were initially part of a project were I recreated an imaginary world of plastic. Inspired by the fact that we are surrounded by plastic,  I looked at the work of artists such as Jeff Koons, Anish Kapoor and Richard Slee.

I then realised that the birds were really nice  objects.  When my children  were very young, I bought this bird whistle . The ceramic birds are plaster moulds of that whistle. To me this object symbolises  taking the time to play.
